Click Here for information regarding about stolen vehicles. This is vital information to pass along to family, friends and coworkers.
Vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts continue to be a concern in the Hollenbeck area despite added patrols and the arrest of several
suspects. Primarily the vehicles that are being stolen are Hondas and Toyotas because they can be started with "shaved" keys. They are being recovered all over, including Hollenbeck, other cities and the county. We have also seen an increase in auto thefts in the southern part of Hollenbeck near Olympic between Soto and Spence down to Washington Boulevard. In some instances the Catalytic Converter has been stolen to be sold from trucks and sport utility vehicles. Please be reminded that there are some things you can do to make it harder to steal a car.
This includes:
Installing Steering Wheel locking devices (good)
Installing Battery disconnect switches (Better)
Removing the high tension ignition wire when parking the vehicle (Best)
(This will prevent the vehicle from being started.)
Parking your vehicle behind a locked gate (if available)
Don’t leave valuables in your car !!!.
If you see anything suspicious, call us.
For non-emergency calls, dial 877-ASK LAPD
For crimes in progress call 911.

Yesterday on June 5, 2008 at about 3pm Hollenbeck Narcotics Officers and Gang Enforcement Unit were serving a search warrant on the 2500 Block of Malabar. As the officers made entry the suspect fired several shots at the officers. One of my Narcotics officers was struck by gunfire. He was hit in the leg and in his ballistic helmet. The helmet deflected the round and saved his life.
Several of my officers returned fire. It was subsequently discovered after the arrival of SWAT that the suspect expired in the residence as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
Our officer is doing well. Please direct any cards or other things to Hollenbeck Station and I will see that he gets them.
Thank you to all who showed up last night and supported us. We had at least a few hundred officers that showed up from all over the City, as well as great support from CD14, LAFD, LAUSD PD, General Services just to name a few.
Again, that is all I can release now, but I will send more out as it becomes available. I've been her since late last night so if I don't respond in a timely manner to your email I will as soon as possible.

Last night at about 730 PM Hollenbeck Patrol and Gang Officers were deployed in the area of 6th and Grandview in response to an few reports of shootings over the last few weeks.
During their patrol, a report of shots fired came out, generated from a member of the community. As the officers responded, they were directed to a suspect by witnesses.
The Hollenbeck Officers gave chase and were confronted by a gang member armed with a handgun. The suspect pointed the gun at the Hollenbeck Officers. The officers fired in self defense and struck the suspect. The suspect was pronounced at the scene.
All officers are fine.

On June 12, 2008, the Special Olympics torch will be passing through Hollenbeck. Officers and Community members from Hollenbeck will take the torch from Northeast, run through Hollenbeck and pass it off to Central.
This is a great 5 mile run, I did it last year.
I would like to invite anybody that would like to run with us to do so. We will run as a group (slow) and be provided with traffic control via black and whites and motors. Each of us will have the opportunity to carry the torch during this course.
We will meet at Avenue 26 and Figueroa at 0800 in the AM on June 12, 2008. FYI there will be a van following us to pickup runners who can not or dont want to make the full five miles.
Please let me know if you'd like to join us. It is very enjoyable.
